Originally from Nicaragua, Andrea has been dancing since a young age being part of a dance academy for 10 years and performing at Nicaraguan theaters. She discovered her love for Zumba during college at the University of Texas where she became an instructor for four years. Her love of teaching leads her to inspire her participants to have fun and feel the music while having a head to toe burn that includes a balance of cardio and toning. For her, Zumba is a way of letting go and expressing yourself through dance which she strives to impart in each of her classes.
My Fitness career started in 2010 as a spinning instructor when I moved to Houston coming from Mexico City. After few months of teaching this format, I was asked to cover a Latin Heat class at the last minute and I got hooked right away.
I got my Zumba license in 2011 and been teaching since then through both of my pregnancies.
I have a background in Graphic Design and I’m also the Co-owner at Cascabel Salsa Gourmet, a one of a kind chili oil on the market.
I try to spread to others the energy and happiness that exercise brings to my life.
Falling in love with Zumba was natural for this island girl from Trinidad. Sandy’s roots are embedded in a mosaic of cultures so when she was introduced to Zumba, the fusion of world music and dance reminded her of Carnival…positive vibes and cultures coming together with ease and freedom to move, sweat, and feel at home.
Inspired by her mentors, she was licensed in 2015 and her journey has been full of amazing experiences and friendships with those who share her passion for health and fitness. She most enjoys seeing students smiling during their workouts and hearing inspirational success stories.
Outside of Zumba, Sandy owns a full-time media production company, volunteers, loves to: cook (grateful to hubby and other willing taste testers), SCUBA dive, and travel when possible.
